Open Door Accommodation Project has 9 Supported Flats throughout West Lothian that can accommodate up to 16 young people between the ages of 16-21. The flats are all fully furnished and most of them are shared accommodation. The aim of the Supported Flats is to prepare young people for their own tenancy. When a young person joins the Supported Flats Service they are allocated a dedicated Support Worker who will work with them to give personal and practical support, helping them to develop the self-confidence and skills needed to live independently.Young people are supported to budget, shop, cook, clean, identify and manage minor household repairs and  achieve the skills identified on their individual support plan. The support is tailored to meet the individual needs of the young person.  By the end of their stay, the young people should have the skills to be able to sustain a tenancy.

We recognise the benefits of partnership working — so we ensure that where appropriate other agencies are involved with the young people, ensuring they receive the best possible service. Group work sessions are also run, to provide the young people with additional skills and experience.

The views of the young people within the service are important to us — there are residents meetings held regularly where the young people can voice their opinions, ask questions, be part of decision making and the development of the Supported Flats service.

We have activities running throughout the year such as Zumba classes, cooking classes, going to the gym, getting involved with the National Trust days. We also run Summer and Christmas events for the young people.
